A LORRY has crashed into trees in Dursley, blocking the country lane for several hours, after the driver was led the wrong way by his sat nav.

According to sources at the scene the vehicle had been moving stuff from Lister Petter's old factory to the new site in Minchinhampton when the driver took the unadvised route.

Drake Lane has signs on the road telling drivers it is not for heavy goods vehicles due to the steep incline and sharp corners.

But the driver, apparently not knowing the area, followed his sat nav down the lane where the collision happened at around 3pm.

The cab and trailer struck a large willow tree, which dislodged it from the soil and moved it further down the embankment, between the cab and trailer.

While the cab could be unhooked and was driven away, the trailer was trapped and at around 5pm yesterday, Highways crews were waiting for a team to come down with a raised platform and remove the branches fo the tree.
