POLICE are appealing for a dog owner to come forward after a young boy was bitten in Yate.

A four-year-old boy was treated for a minor injury to his leg after the incident in Kingsgate Park at 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5.

The child had wandered a little way from his father and was returned by a woman who said one of her two dogs had ‘nipped’ the child.

The boy received treatment for a small puncture wound to his leg and the incident was reported to police the next day.

Neighbourhood PC Angharad Baynham said: “I’m keen to speak to the woman involved as part of my enquiries into this incident.

"She seems to have been aware that something had happened and I would ask her to get in touch with me.

"If anyone else has any information which could help please contact me through the website,, or call Chipping Sodbury Police Station on 101 quoting reference 45171/14.”

The woman was described as white and was wearing a green T-shirt and what was described as ‘army-style’ trousers. The dogs were said to be terrier-type, brown or grey in colour and on leads at the time.
