LEON ANDRE completed a 50km cycling challenge and won a bike worth just under £1,000.

The Hell of the North Cotswolds junior route was completed by Leon Andre, an Archway School student, 16 and he was automatically entered into a raffle.

Cycling on his Dad’s old full suspension bike there were repairs needed during the ride.

Leon found the ride ‘energy sapping’ and told his Dad that he wanted a hard tail 29er for next year’s challenge.

Winning the raffle, Leon, currently studying his A-Levels, was awarded a brand new Whyte 629 mountain bike worth £999.

Dan Andre, Leon’s Dad said: “The fact that he has won a new bike is as if someone had read his mind so he was very pleased and now has the best hard tail bike in the family.”

Since winning the prize, Leon has had a 40km Stroud Valleys test ride on it and next year aims to complete the 100km HONC challenge.

The prize was donated by Whyte via Noah’s Bike Shop, in Stroud.
