POLICE are investigating an incident in Yate in which a seven-year-old girl was grabbed by an older boy.

The girl was playing on Milton Road at around 6pm on Friday, May 6 when she the boy, described as around 14-year-olds, took her wrist and pulled her towards a nearby lane. He let go and ran off on seeing a woman walking towards them.

The girl described the boy as having dark hair and tanned skin, wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Her nine-year-old friend told police she saw the boy run off and described him as about 14, wearing a sea blue top, black jogging bottoms, with his face covered.

DC Celia White said: “On receiving the report we carried out a search of the area but found no trace of a suspect.

“We have carried out house-to-house enquiries in the area but have not found any other witnesses to this incident.

“No-one of either description can be seen on the local CCTV footage.”

She added: “We would be keen to hear from anyone who was in the Milton Road area of Yate at about 6pm on Friday, May 9 who may be able to help our enquiries.
