THE Uplands Care Service has launched a fundraising appeal to raise £5,000 by the end of the year.

For 17 years the independent service has been providing day care for elderly residents living within an eight mile radius of Stroud.

Now, as a result of government cuts and rising costs of utilities and fuel, the staff and trustees are embarking on a six month fundraising events programme and are looking for volunteers who would be willing to host an event.

Uplands Care Service chairman Joe Forbes, said: “Marathon runs, coffee mornings or any other fundraising activities would be most welcome.

“The Care Service offers a good service to the community and we have always been appreciative of its support for our work. This was demonstrated in 2012 with an excellent response to the Minibus Appeal which was promoted by SNJ so successfully.”
