THE 37-year-old motorcyclist who died after being hit by a train near Stroud has been named as Paul Martin.

Mr Martin, who was a father of one with another child on the way, was struck by a Swindon to Gloucester passenger train while riding his motorcycle at the Frampton Mansell foot crossing on Sunday, May 11.

According to a spokesman from the British Transport Police medics treated Mr Martin, of Cashes Green, Stroud, at the scene but he sadly died of his injuries.

A statement was released today, Tuesday, by Mr Martin’s wife Lorna paying tribute to her husband.

“Paul was, and has been for the past 12 years, my entire everything,” she said.

“He was a fantastic husband and father and was completely besotted with our son and baby which is on the way.

“His other great loves in his life were his friends and his motorbike. He greatly enjoyed his job and had an extremely enthusiastic and competitive attitude to his role.

“All I now hope for is that his friends remember as much about him as possible and help me to keep his memory alive so that our children grow up knowing as much about him as they can and that they help me with the enormous challenge I have to create a life for them that he would be proud of.”

A spokesman from the BTP confirmed that the incident is being treated as non-suspicious however an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
