AFTER two years of fundraising staff and parents have managed to raise the £38,000 needed to refurbish Uplands Playgroup.

The playgroup, which has been running in the community for 45 years, meets in an old Elliot building in the grounds of Uplands Primary School in Thompson Road, Stroud, and is badly in need of a makeover.

In 2012 the committee launched a fundraising campaign in order to pay for the refurbishments and the SNJ can now report that it has reached its target and building work will begin in July.

Gloucestershire Freemasons donation of £2,000 helped the playgroup finally reach its target and can now be added to the various grants and donations from Gloucestershire County Council, the Summerfield Charitable Trust, Lloyds bank , Besley Hill estate agents as well as members of the community who supported and organised various fundraising events.

Committee chairman Lynsey Kelleher thanked everyone involved for their support which has helped them finally reach their target.
