A BLOOMING good rest is on the cards for parish clerk Diana Wall who’s just retired after 12 years service to Minchinhampton Parish Council.

Mrs Wall, who lives in Minchinhampton, received thank-you flowers from the council at her final meeting, and then was presented with more blooms - two potted Camellias - at the recent Annual Parish Meeting, Tuesday May 6.

Former teacher Diana, said the idea of working in local government was inspired by close friend Rosalind Barker who was a previous clerk before her sad death 13 years ago.

After a respectful gap, Diana applied for the role and her tenure covered over 500 evening meetings and the move from the Minchinhampton Library to the current Trap House office.

“I’m looking forward to some time to myself” said Diana, who is looking forward to a summer of enjoying both her gardening and planned new conservatory. She served her last day on March 31, with the new Clerk chosen to be Jo Barber.
