Gloucestershire Team GB Paralympian meets pop legend Kylie Minogue
A TEENAGE Paralympic prodigy from Wotten-Under-Edge fulfilled her dream of meeting pop legend Kylie Minogue during an exclusive meet and greet event in London last week.
Chloe Ball, 17, was born with major complications to her legs and hips and a rare muscle condition.
She has worked through a lifetime of major surgery to become part of the Paralympic Podium Potential squad for archery.
The talented teen recently received a specialist archery wheelchair from national children’s charity Caudwell Children and represented the charity at their annual Butterfly Ball at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last week.
Speaking at the Charities meet and greet, Chloe said: “It was amazing to meet Kylie and be able to talk to her.
She was lovely and very down to earth which is fantastic.
“I was also able to meet Peter Andre and Alfie Boe which was incredible. The Butterfly Ball was such an amazing evening and I am so grateful to Caudwell Children for inviting me.”
The Butterfly Ball is held annually by National Children’s Charity Caudwell Children.
This year the ball raised over £2.5 million with over £2 million netted in the evening’s auction, presided over by renowned charity auctioneer, Charlie Ross.
Lots on offer included a week on Sir Richard Branson’s private island, a chance to meet the presenters of Top Gear at a special event in South Africa, and a rare opportunity to have dinner with former Soviet statesman, Mikhail Gorbachev.
Trudi Beswick, CEO of Caudwell Children, said: "We are delighted at the overwhelming support that we received from all of our guests throughout the evening.
The money that has been raised is more important than ever as the demand for our services increases each year.
“The funds will enable us to help young athletes, like Chloe, through our Enable Sports Programme.
These young athletes just need the opportunity and support to maximise their incredible talent.
I can’t thank everyone who donated at the Butterfly Ball enough.”
