BUDDING entrepreneurs can sell their wares at Stroud Shambles Market at a reduced rate.

Stroud District Council will extend the market to newcomers at a reduced rate - just £2 - on Friday, June 6.

The specially extended market will spill in to St Laurence’s Church Yard to accommodate as many stalls as possible.

Mike Towson, facilities management officer for SDC, said: “With so many people taking up self-employment this is a great opportunity for businesses to showcase their wares to shoppers in the town centre for a tiny fee.

"It’s ideal for businesses selling items such as clothes and gifts, but we’ve also had people selling art and bric-a-brac in the past.

"We’re hoping people will spread the word and as many small businesses as possible take up the offer.”

Anyone interesting in taking up a stall should call market supervisor Ken Stevens on 07515 392958.

Space is strictly limited so booking early is advisable.

This annual event is part of the national ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign.
