HUNDREDS turned out to watch teams go head to head in the Stroud Truck Pull Challenge on Bank Holiday Monday.
The team from Forest Green Gym were crowned the champions, knocking last year’s winners Fifth Dimension from the top spot.
The other teams included Stroud Tesco, Fitness Mill, Veolia Environmental Services, the Queen Victoria, the Clothiers Arms, the Village Inn, Nailsworth, the Royal Mail and the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester.
All the teams pulled an eight tonne Dairy Crest lorry from the Rowcroft roundabout along Merrywalks, around the Beeches Green roundabout and back again.
Organiser Gary Gardner also had a go at pulling a truck, as did the charity music ensemble Together in Harmony – who recently released a charity single called Miss You Machine to raise money on behalf of the Fusiliers Aid Society.
Acts from Together in Harmony also performed at the event on Monday on a huge stage opposite the Vue cinema in Merrywalks.
They were joined on stage by comedian Matt Lee Steer, who presented the event.
Spectators could also enjoy funfair rides and food and drink trucks occupied the car park next to McDonald’s. Bath Samba Band also performed for onlookers.
Monday’s event was the second truck pull in the town.
Last year, Harry Potter star Rupert Grint delighted fans when he made a surprise appearance and also took a turn at pulling one of the trucks.
