THE SKY is the limit for Woodchester Mansion, with organisers announcing exciting plans to turn the Gothic Victorian building into a widespread visitor attraction.
Terry Robinson, Chairman of the Woodchester Mansion Trust, said he is looking to draw 50,000 visitors a year rather than the current 6,000 with longer opening hours, a regular mini bus service up and down the valley and guided tours of the building.
Theproperty, in Nympsfield, dates back from the mid 1850s, but was mysteriously left abandoned half constructed in 1873.
After being saved from dereliction, the Grade One listed building offers an insight into traditional building techniques and beautiful views looking across the valley side.
Stroud MP Neil Carmichael said: “It is steeped in interest, architecturally, culturally, historically and politically. I would urge people to come and experience it.”
Woodchester Mansion is open six days a week, 11am-5pm, Tuesday to Sunday. To find out more visit www.woodchestermansion.org.uk
