GREEN-fingered enthusiasts in the town are hoping for their third consecutive Gold award at this year's Britain in Bloom.

This year's event is going to be extra special as it also marks the 50th anniversary of The Britain in Bloom campaign.

To tie in with the golden anniversary organisers have made the theme for this year - Growing Gold for Pollinators.

Once again there will also be the window display competition to coincide with the Britain in Bloom judging on Tuesday, July 8.

Window displays need to be in place by 9.30am the morning of the official Britain in Bloom judging - however they will be judged completely seperatly by local independent judges later that week.

All entrants will be awarded a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate and the overall winner will be awarded a £25 voucher which can be used in Mills Cafe or kitchen shop.

Points are awarded for four categories including creative use of recycled materials, incorporation of fresh foliage and plants, nature conservation, biodiversity and wildlife and overall display.

The competition is free to enter and application forms can be collected from the SNJ office in Lansdown.
