A COW has died after being hit by a car on The Common last night.

The animal was hit around 11pm by a car driving between Tom Long’s Post and The Bear at Rodborough.

It suffered a broken leg and had to be shot.

Mark Dawkins, the Hayward to The Commons said: “This is sad news and the first cow to be killed this year.

“I am hoping this will be the last.”

The front window of the car was left smashed and the cow was covered by a sheet.

The dark cows should wear hi-viz collars!
Driving slowly can only help so much when the cows aren't visible until they're on your bonnet!

A collar wouldn't help as the artical says the cow was covered with a sheet.

By the way, I read that 13 died last year, so you can expect 12 more jokes like this.

The cow's body was covered by a sheet so onlookers didn't have to see a dead cow by the side of the road. It wasn't wearing a sheet whilst roaming the common.

You don't know the cow wasn't wearing a sheet, You're just assuming the cow wasn't wearing a sheet. Maybe they could wear hi-viz sheets, then everyone would be happy. Imagine the improvements: all cows wear sheets with hi viz collers sewn into them. Then if a cow got hit, it would already be covered with a sheet. I have thought this through you know.

Ah, now you're assuming that there was a driver. This article does not state that there was a driver. In fact it clearly states that the car was driving. Which means that it could have been either a runaway car or one of those self driving cars that you see in futuristic films. I understand these cars will be a thing of the future. So maybe putting sheets on the cows is now not such a good idea after all. Maybe they need car radar or something. I'm losing this idea rapidly.

Also, it says that the window of the car was left smashed. Does this mean that the smashed car window has been left in place and not removed and replaced? If someone decides to take the car out they will surely not be safe? Unless of course it was a self driving car which doesn't rely on windows. Yay, back on track.
