CHILDREN from Longney Primary School are cheering on England by holding their summer fete the same day as the country's first world cup game.
A football theme will carry the fete, which will run 1.30-4.30pm on Saturday, June 16, the same day as England kick-off against Italy in Brazil.
Students have been learning about the world and other cultures in school, with the World Cup providing a fun background.
The school, based on Chatter Street, Longley, owes credit to their Friends Committee, for organising the fete.
Anna Whiterod, chairman of the Friends Committee, said: "It has been pretty hectic organising it as there has been so much going on."
Activities include a cheerleading display from year 4-5 students, Irish dancing from junior years while traditional fete activities such as custard pie races and penalty shoot-outs will also be included.
