ACTRESS and former Loose Women star Lisa Maxwell will officially open the brand new Painswick youth and community pavilion this weekend.
A year after plans were revealed for a £100,000 refurbishment of youth facilities in Painswick – the pavilion is now complete and ready to be opened to the public.
Christian charity PSALMS has orchestrated the project in order to give the recreation ground in Lower Washwell Lane a much needed overhaul.
The charity needed £145,000 to improve the recreation ground and make it a youth club and sports club for the use of various organisations in Painswick.
Various organisations contributed to the cost of the project including the parish council, Gloucestershire County Council, the Garfield Weston Foundation as well as members of the local community.
Volunteers also applied for grants from the Big Lottery Fund and the Environmental Trust.
The refurbishment is now complete and the grand opening of the pavilion takes place at 3pm on Saturday, June 14 on the Painswick Recreation Ground.
Five Painswick sports teams will be leading activities and there will be a hog roast, a bouncy castle and face painting.
Andy Harding, a PSALMS youth minister who has worked in Painswick for six years, said: “After many years of waiting and planning the fantastic facility is finally ready for use and has united the community of Painswick.”
