HOST families are needed for an exchange programme which will see residents of a French town enjoy the sights of Cricklade at the end of the month.

People of all ages from Sucé-sur-Erdre, which Cricklade is twinned with, are set to visit the town between June 27 and June 29 as part of a trip organised by Cricklade Twinning Association (CTA), in order to boost links between the two towns.

Jane Whinfrey, a regular host in the programme and a member of CTA, said: “It is great fun to be a host. As a family we speak very little French at all but we have managed very well.

“It is normally a fairly relaxed but quite a busy week.”

Host are still needed for a man in his 30s, a man in his 60s and a man and woman in their 30s.

The residents of the French town will be welcomed at a formal gathering at Crickade Town Council offices on Friday, June 27 at 5.30pm.

As part of their trip they will be taken on coach trips to Batsford Aboretum and Hook Norton Brewery.

Cricklade was twinned with Sucé-sur-Erdre in 1990, since then the two towns have acted as hosts on alternative years.
