WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses to a large disorder in Market Place, Devizes last night outside the Corn Exchange, which saw two police officers seriously assaulted.

After being called out to the incident at the Corn Exchange at 3.15am the officers were attacked at 3.45am.

A police spokesman said: "There was a large number of people in the area at the time and we appeal to them to come forward and tell us what they saw, we are particularly interested in hearing from witnesses who may have captured any part of the incident on video footage on their mobile phones, and anyone with information about what was happening before police arrived."

Both officers are currently being treated at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

Two men have been arrested on suspicious of causing grievous bodily harm, and actual bodily harm.
