WITH just over a week until the centenary of Laurie Lee's birth one Stroud business has found their own special way of honouring the author.

Helen Brent-Smith and David Kaspar, of Day's Cottage, have produced a special centenary cider which has been aptly named Rosie's Kiss.

"In Cider with Rosie, Laurie Lee recalls his first taste of cider as well as his first kiss with Rosie," said David.

"Last autumn we were blessed with a fine apple crop which allowed us to blend 100 varieties of apple, largely from the Gloucestershire Museum Orchard at Day’s Cottage," he added.

"What makes this cider extra special is the addition of Ashmead’s Kernel apples from Laurie Lee’s original orchard in Slad, which was kindly given to us by the current owners."

Rosie’s Kiss cider is available at many centenary events and from Day’s Cottage stall at Stroud Farmers’ Market.
