STROUD Farmer’s Market will celebrate its 15th birthday next month.

The market has grown considerably since the tiny little market of 11 stalls in 1999.

At the time Stroud was the third producers-only market to start up in the UK, where there are now over 500 markets a month.

The birthday celebrations will take place from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, July 5 and there will be jugglers, stiltwalkers, musicians, morris dancers, birthday cake and the chance to win a Stroud farmers’ market hamper, which contains at least one item from every stall, coming to a value of around £150.

Customers can enter the draw over the next couple of weeks by leaving their email addresses to register for a new farmers market electronic newsletter.

The farmers market in Stroud certainly has good reason to celebrate as it has been one of the most successful markets in the country, winning best certified farmers market in the UK in 2007 and 2013 and BBC Best Food market in the UK in 2010.
