UPDATE: Power cut in Tetbury area affecting 1600 homes

AROUND 1,600 homes in the Tetbury area suffered a power cut this morning.

The blackout in Doughton, Highgrove, Tetbury and Westonbirt was recorded on the Southern Electric website at 8.17.

Shortly after noon Southern Electric Power Distribution said most properties had been reconnected.

Spokesman Waseem  Zakir, said: "The power cut is a result of a transformer fault on a pole on Cirencester Road, Tetbury. We are fixing it at the moment.

"The expected power restoration time is 12.30pm to 1pm."
