MINCHINHAMPTON Common is most famous for its roaming cows but this week it was a rare flower that caught the eye.

Dog walker Allan Pearce spotted a Bee Orchid flower, on Tuesday, June 17.

Bee Orchid’s typically flower in June and July but can take up to eight years to grow, so Mr Pearce’s pictures are something of a rarity.

The wildflower resembles a female bee sitting on a pink flower, luring the pollinating male bee in with the promise of love.

Not that rare. There are loads around if you know where to look. Fly orchids are rarer, but still findable.
