POLICE are appealing for information about a road traffic collision between a car and a cyclist near Wooton Under Edge on Friday.

The collision occurred at 10.35 am on the Alderley road between Alderley and Hillersley.

A 20-year-old female cyclist, from the Malmesbury area, while travelling downhill out of Alderley, was in collision with a blue Citroen C1 driven by a 36-year-old-man from the Gloucester area.

He was travelling in the opposite direction.

The cyclist sustained serious head and pelvic injuries and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. She is currently in a critical but stable condition.

The road was closed for around five hours.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 162 of June 20.
