PAST, present and future members of Britain’s armed forces will be honoured on Wednesday when a flag is raised at the Sub Rooms in Stroud.
Stroud District Council will be raising the special armed forces flag at 11am, with a simple ceremony hosted by SDC chairman Mark Rees.
Cllr Rees said: “This flag raising is our opportunity to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in the armed forces.
“We are showing our support for the men and women who make up the armed forces community; from currently serving troops to service families and from veterans to cadets.”
Cllr Rees will be joined by a contingent of soldiers from the Royal Logistics Corps based at South Cerney, together with youngsters from Stroud Sea Cadets.
Another armed forces flag was raised simultaneously at Ebley Mill and both flags will stay raised for the rest of the week.
The raising of the flag is part of the build up to National Armed Services Day, which is on Saturday June, 28.
