CALLUM Braley is celebrating winning the Junior World Championship with England for the second year in a row.
The scrum half from Coalpit Heath, who has recently joined Gloucester from Bristol, captained the under-20s side in two of their group games against Argentina and Italy in New Zealand and after the final whistle of the 21-20 final win over South Africa at Eden Park in Auckland last Friday he held the trophy aloft with Maro Itoje, who led the side in the other games.
Braley was also part of the England squad that won the competition in France 12 months earlier and captained the side during the U20 Six Nations earlier this year.
The former Silverhill Primary School pupil came off the bench for the final 33 minutes of the 42-15 semi-final victory against Ireland but was an unused replacement in the final.
After the win he posted a picture of himself and Itoje holding the trophy on Instagram and said on Twitter: “Wow, what a month can't believe we are world champions for a second year running!! thanks for all the support throughout it's been unreal!
“Still can't believe it! Double world champions.”
On returning to the UK, Braley added: “Nice to be home, again thanks for all the support over the last month its been overwhelming, I couldnt be prouder of the squad.”
