THE family of a woman who died at a Yate care home last week has paid tribute to their 'much-loved' aunt, stepmother and grandmother.

Una Dorney, 87, was found dead in her room at Oaktree Care Home in Lark Rise, Brimsham Park where she was a resident.

Her 33-year-old grandson Ryan Guest, of Birkdale, Yate was arrested later that day and subsequently charged with her murder. He appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Monday and was remanded into custody until July 14.

In a short tribute, the family of Mrs Dorney, who is understood to have been widowed last year, said: “Una was a much-loved aunt, stepmother and grandmother.

"Her death last week has left the family shocked and saddened and we’ll miss her very much.

"We’re grateful for all the support and kind words we’ve received both from those who we know and those we don’t.

"It will take us time to absorb the devastating news and adjust to our lives without Una in them.”

The family have asked that they are left in peace in order that they can grieve privately.
