BISHOP of Tewkesbury, the Rt Rev Martyn Snow, visited Brimscombe School and met pupils learning about the history of their church, school and community.

As part of the 175th birthday celebrations of Holy Trinity Brimscombe on Monday, June 9 the Bishop paid a visit speaking to children about his life and role.

The anniversary marks the laying of the foundation stone for the church.

In 1837 local residents originally met at the Ship Inn to discuss building the church, which started in 1839 on June, 6 and the church and Brimscombe School next to it opened the following year.

Anniversary celebrations followed a similar pattern starting on Friday, June 6, in the Ship Inn for a night of pub games.

The following evening members of the school, church and wider community gathered together in the school for a BBQ.

A lovely sunny evening saw young and old sitting together as the church band worked their way from ABBA to Ella Fitzgerald via the Beatles.

On Sunday 8 a celebration service was followed by a lunch before the Bishop’s visit on Monday.
