Plans for 1,500 new homes in Sharpness as developers look to build new garden village

Stroud News and Journal: Plans for 1,500 new homes in Sharpness as developers look to build new garden village Plans for 1,500 new homes in Sharpness as developers look to build new garden village

SHARPNESS could home another 1,500 houses as developers hope to build a new garden village with a school and shops.

Consultation events are being held, welcoming the public to find out more about the development on land either side of the B4066 at Sharpness.

Work led by GreenSquare Group involving Hunter Page Planning has been carried out on the proposals for the last two years.

The plan is to create a new garden village of 1,500 homes that will be delivered in Stroud District Council’s local plan period up to 2031.

Developing the village holds potential for a new village centre with a food store, small shops and offices.

Furthermore there is a possibility of a doctor’s surgery and school with bus routes as a key feature.

Public consultation events take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at Sharpness Village Hall, Berkeley and Wednesday, July 2 at the Old Town Hall, The Shambles, Stroud both starting at 4pm until 7pm.

Story above this is about houses being flooded.
So what a fab idea to build a few thousand more homes next to the canal, on a flood plain.

Great plan.

Typical SDC...build houses as far away from Stroud as possible. You couldn't get any further west than sharpness! Ridiculous and laughable.

People are never satisfied. You propose building on brown field sites and there are objections.
Better this than concreting over our green spaces. If it creates a true village community, then so much the better. Not saying this is the only site to build on, but it is a reasonable suggestion.

this has nothing to do with building on brown field, (that is a seperate proposal for 300 houses in Sharpness)

This is for 1500 houses on greenfield sites joining Newtown with Berkeley
