BRITISH Transport Police is appealing for information after a man was involved in a bite attack while travelling on a train through Swindon.

The 41-year-old Windsor man was travelling on First Great Western’s 8.30pm Bristol Temple Meads - London Paddington service on Friday, 20 June.

The incident occured between about 9.10pm and 9.30pm as the train travelled between Swindon and Didcot Parkway stations.

PC Bob Burrowes, of BTP Oxford, is appealing for anyone who may have seen the disturbance on board this train to come forward.

He said: “This train was a busy Friday night service so I’m confident that someone may have witnessed this incident which resulted in the victim receiving a serious injury to his finger.

“Incidents such as this are extremely rare on the rail network which is generally a safe environment on which to travel.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I am appealing for anyone who recalls seeing two men arguing with each other in coach F on this train, to come forward and contact BTP straight away.”
