NAILSWORTH Grandfather Reg Urquhart went through with his outrageous promise to have a Mohican haircut for charity on Saturday, June 28.

The 68-year-old said he was extremely nervous before having the whacky red and green Mohican but has no regrets, despite the wild hairdo attracting some strange looks.

“Some people thought on Monday morning that I was returning from Glastonbury” he laughs, “But it was a fantastic morning on Saturday, we were all having great fun and everyone enjoyed laughing at me.”

The ceremonial haircut was staged at Nailsworth Mortimer Gardens, and raised over £700 on the day for children’s cancer charity Latch.

Reg’s great-nephew Harri was diagnosed with the rare children’s cancer neuroblastoma in 2012 and has spent the previous two years relying on treatment trials with no known cure for the disease.

However, Latch has done a great job in keeping the families spirits up by organising trips and events as well as helping fund research into children’s cancer.
