TENANTS of social housing will be given the opportunity to swap their accommodation at an event on Thursday, July 10.

HomeSwapper will run between 2pm and 5pm at Stroud’s Subscription Rooms and will match tenants wanting to move homes which may better suit their requirements.

Joel Darley, Stroud District Council housing manager, said: “HomeSwapper is a hugely popular service across the UK which is good for both tenants and landlords. More than 29,000 households are swapping every year through the service and it is helping to improve social mobility across the country.

“By holding this event, along with other social housing landlords in the district, we can extend the housing options we offer. They now have the option to find new homes not only in this area but across the whole of the UK.”

Home swapping could benefit tenants looking to downsize, who have been affected by the bedroom subsidy and help those currently overcrowded. It could also benefit anybody who needs to re-locate.
