A NEW multi-million pound housing development in Minchinhampton has been completed.

Councillors from Stroud District, Gloucestershire Rural Community and various parish councils toured the new estate at Farm Close, Minchinhampton, which features nine new homes.

Developer Sanctuary Group unveiled the first phases of a major £2.2 million investment, which features two four-bedroom, four three bedroom and two two-bedroom houses as well as a one bedroom bungalow.

The councillors had a chance to look inside the properties, chat to some of the new residents and see the progress on the second phase of development.

Karen Phimister, Rural Housing Enabler for Stroud District with GRCC, passed on her thanks to Sanctuary Group for facilitating the tour of the Minchinhampton development.

She said: “The aim of the visit was to raise the profile of affordable housing and showcase that affordable homes can be well built and well-designed and we certainly saw this.”

The tour by local councillors coincided with this year’s Rural Housing Week (30 June – 6 July), an initiative organised by the National Housing Federation to highlight the need for more affordable housing in rural locations across the UK.
