MORE journeys around the county are set to improve as Gloucestershire County Council continues its summer resurfacing programme.

Highway crews are taking advantage of the better weather as more road resurfacing takes place across the county.

A new road surface will be laid at Sneedhams Green in Matson this month, between Sneedhams Road and the M5 bridge.

Work will begin on Thursday, July 10 and it is expected to be complete by Monday, July 14.

The improvements will take place each day between 7:30am and 6pm.

Due to the road width, the type of work being done and to ensure the safety of the travelling public and the workforce, it will be necessary to close the road to traffic.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said, “This work is part of our priority road repair plans for 2014 and it will significantly improve journeys in this part of Gloucester. We’ll do all we can to minimise the inconvenience, and we thank residents and drivers for their patience during this small period of disruption.”

Local county councillor Steve McHale said, “This is a well used road which has been in need of repair for some time. I welcome the improvements which Gloucestershire County Council will be carrying out this month.”
