CAMPAIGNERS against a housing development in Cainscross have won a fight to have the flats refused.

Plans for 10 flats on brownfield land, in Westward Road was refused by Stroud District Council’s planning committee last night.

Concerns were raised by residents about the size of the building, loss of light to nearby homes, increased traffic and that the design is not in keeping with surrounding properties.

Planning permission had previously been granted for four dwellings but developer Neon Homes believed the site could be developed further.

Cainscross Parish Council objected to the application due to concerns about loss of light, loss of privacy and highway safety on the “already congested Cainscross Road”.

The development would have consisted of three one bedroom apartments and seven two bedrooms with parking and cycle storage.
