STROUD District Green Party are raising concerns that there is too little public awareness about a fracking consultation currently being run by the government.
The government website gives information about the technical and environmental aspects of fracking- and allows viewers a chance to respond. The consultation was uploaded on Friday, May 23 and will close on Friday, August 15.
However, despite the opportunity the website allows to respond to the controversial government policy- Greens are concerned too few people are aware of the consultation.
Green candidate for the Valley Ward by-election, Martin Baxendale, said: “For a consultation to be meaningful, people have to know about it and have chance to make their opinions heard. We want to encourage everyone in Stroud District to let the government know what they think of fracking.”
