Kids swap clothes for cash

PARK Junior Primary School in Stonehouse collected bags of textiles worth more than over £200 for the Rags 2 Riches 4 Schools charity.

The weigh-in managed to earned the school £221.95 with the total weight of bags at 341.45 kilos.

Parents and pupils were encouraged to clear their homes of all unwanted goods including shoes, clothes and tops, jeans, coats and bedding to donate to the charity at 65p per bag.

The children were visited by On Friday morning the mascot of Rags 2 Riches visited the school to weigh and collect the bags.

Textiles were weighed in and in return per kilo of goods the school receive 65p to put towards PTA funds.

While being a 100 per cent efficient recycling process it is an easy and quick way for the school to earn some much needed cash.

As well as keeping children involved by encouraging them to donate what they can.

Money raised The money raised from the recycling will be spent on new outdoor play equipment for the pupils to enjoy, and remaining cash will go back into parent-teacher association funds.
