PLANS for a new solar farm near Cirencester can be viewed by local people at a meeting this Friday.

Belectric UK is proposing a solar farm off Witpit Lane, near Preston, Cirencester. The 19.2MW solar farm will produce the equivalent energy for over 5,500 homes.

The scheme will be presented to residents on Friday, July 18 in the Barbican Suite at Cirencester Town Football Club. Staff will be available to chat to people at any time between 2.30pm and 6.30pm.

Project development manager at Belectric UK Mike Rogers said plans were due to be submitted to Cotswold District Council this summer.

"We want to hear people’s views to help us shape our proposals to the benefit of the local community, environment and economy," he said.
