GLOUCESTERSHIRE suffered a six-wicket County Championship defeat against Derbyshire at the Cheltenham Festival.
The visitors reached their target of 204 to win with 10.2 overs to spare with West Indies international Shivnarine Chanderpaul hitting 52 and opening batsman Billy Godleman 54.
Derbyshire were given plenty of time to record victory after Gloucestershire were shot out for just 219 in their second innings, losing their first four wickets for just 40 runs and their last four in a half-hour spell before lunch with Hamish Marshall the last man to go for 71.
Will Tavare (135) and Will Gidman (125) both hit centuries as Gloucestershire scored 356 in their first innings, Thomas Taylor taking 5-58 with the ball.
Derbyshire collapsed from 360-5 to 372 all out with Benny Howell taking 4-68 in their first innings after Ben Slater (70), Wayne Madsen (80), Chanderpaul (73) and Wes Durston (58) helped them build a slender lead.
