This Sunday, July 27 the Stonehouse Branch of the Royal British Legion will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War with a service at the War Memorial on the Green. Nailsworth Silver Band will lead a march from the Town Hall to the Green commencing at 12noon.

Cotswold AONB Warden’s Walks – join us for two walks at the beginning of August. A three-mile summer evening walk on Friday, August 1 from Hunters’ Hall at 7pm. Then on Sunday, August 3 a nine-mile walk from Newark Park NT car park to Ozleworth Bottom and Lasborough Park. Work Experience – Stonehouse. NEET’s Work Experience. Are you aged over 19 years, not in education, employment or training and living within Stonehouse? If the answer is yes then Stonehouse Community Partnership are offering you an informal discussion about how you can take part in out 12 week, two and half day a week scheme individually designed to develop your skills, self confidence to prepare you for either voluntary, unpaid or paid employment. You will have the opportunity to design and build Stonehouse’s first Arts Festival. Woodchester Mansion is looking for more volunteers to staff open days. Come along to a recruitment evening next Tuesday, July 29 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. There will be a free minibus from the NT car park in Woodchester Park, tours of the mansion, refreshments and a chance to chat to existing volunteers and find out about volunteering. Stonehouse Friendly Circle always welcomes new members so if you are new to the area why not come along and find out what we do. Have your Say and sign up to the People’s Panel. GCC is calling for residents from across the county to join the People’s Panel. You will be asked to give your view on services and issues which affect you and your local area – it could be via online, postal surveys, local events and occasionally face-to-face groups. All residents aged 16 and over and living in Gloucestershire are eligible, excluding council officers and councillors. So get involved.

APT is your ‘go to’ centre in Stonehouse for a range of services and the new timetable is now available so call in for your copy. The Cooking up Change course has now finished but if you are interested in joining a new course please get in contact. CAB visit APT for appointment sessions on Tuesdays from 10am to 11.30am and for drop in session from 1pm to 3pm on Thursdays. If you are interested in taking part in a DIY for women course at APT please contact Stroud Student Services for information. Stroud District Council housing officers and P3 housing inclusion staff are available at drop in sessions on Thursdays at 10am. Stonehouse Health Walks take place every Tuesday morning. Meet at the Community Centre to start walking at 10.15am. Walks last up to one hour.

Coming up:
A carillon style concert is taking place on Saturday, August 2 at 7.30pm. What is carillon? It is a musical instrument using at least 23 carillon bells often in a church tower. Come along and see our interpretation of this featuring John Pennington on the Church Organ and the St Swithun’s Bell Ringers. Tickets £5 in advance, £6 on the door including light refreshments. Randwick Historical Association presents an exhibition to remember the men of Randwick who fought in the First World War. There will be photographs, memorabilia, information and commemorative flower displays between 10am and 4pm at Randwick Church on Saturday, August 2.

This year’s Stonehouse Horticulture Show takes place on Sunday, August 10 so now is the time to pick up a schedule and start planning your entries. This is a family day with the Big Summer Family Jolly taking place on Laburnum Field at the same time – a car boot sale, live music, classic cars, food, craft and market stalls. Put the date in your diary now.
