OUR eldest son got married on Saturday.

It was a fabulous occasion and we were as proud as could be, looking on as he started a new chapter with the love of his life.

Of course he wasn’t always the perfect child; the late nights when we wondered where he was, the phone calls to rescue him when he and the moped parted company, the stains in the carpet that never quite came out, the tattoo and the state he came home in on his 18th birthday – but every single event is forgiven because he is our son and we love him.

Of course none of these events even crossed our minds last Saturday.
We were caught up in the wonder and splendour of their marriage – what mattered was him and his wife, their love and their new life together.

A famous verse from the bible that you might have seen on posters, banners or placards is JOHN 3:16 which says,

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”

In the gospel of John this passage continues with verse 17…

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him”.

In the same way we choose not to focus on the mistakes of our son’s youth, God wants to do the same for you.
We have all messed up at some point (and don’t we know it!) but as John 3:17 says God doesn’t want to condemn us – but through the love, life, death and resurrection of Jesus – God wants to offer us a new start with him; a new life together.

The Bible tells us that in the last days God himself is preparing a marriage feast, a banquet, for his Son and the really good news is that we are all invited.

All we have to do is say ‘YES’ to a new life together, you and God!! Go on RSVP!!
