HIGH risk areas in Stroud will receive flood protection thanks to council funding.
Gloucestershire County Council has announced a further £115,000 for schemes to reduce the risk of flooding in Upper Lydbrook; Stroud Road in Tuffley; and Sheepscombe Brook and Dillay Brook in the Stroud valleys.
A total of £1.3 million for 16 schemes across the county has been put aside to cut the risk of flooding for over 700 homes.
Preparation for these projects is starting immediately and the county council expects most of the work to be finished in this financial year.
The funding for Sheepscome Brook and the Dillay Brook in Painswick will go towards the Stroud Rural Drainage Project - a new initiative aimed at trying to slow the flow of water and reduce the height of flood peaks in rivers and streams.
