THERE'S just a few days left for you to have your say on the future of public services in Gloucestershire.

So far, around 2,000 people have told us what they think of the proposals, which include a fundamental change in how we deliver support in a bid to deliver £75million of savings in the next three years.

Meeting the Challenge – Together we can launched on 9th June and people from across the county have been visiting the website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/togetherwecan and viewing animated scenarios which help to explain the change in focus, especially for social care, which accounts for almost two thirds of the council’s budget.

We’ve also been carrying out roadshows around the county where we’ve spoken to hundreds of people about their views.

Tomorrow (Friday) the final roadshow will take place in Gloucester town centre from 10am to 4pm and anyone who hasn’t already been along is encouraged to visit and see what we’re proposing.

People have until Monday 4th August, to tell us what they think and they can do that in person at the final roadshow or online at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/togetherwecan.

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, Leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: “What we’re looking at here is the most significant change in how we provide support this council has ever seen.

“We simply cannot afford to carry on as we are and if we’re to avoid making cuts wherever possible we need to think differently about how support can be provided.

“I’m pleased that around 2,000 people have already told us what they think about what we’re proposing.

“There’s still a few days left for anyone who hasn’t taken part to have their say – if you haven’t please visit the website or come along to the Gloucester roadshow as the changes we’re looking at will affect everyone.”
