RENOWNED mezzo soprano Sarah Connolly is to give a concert accompanied by acclaimed pianist Joseph Middleton in memory of Richard Lister to raise money for The Nelson Trust.

Ms Connolly studied piano and singing at the royal college of music, and went on to be appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2012 New Years Honors as well as being nominated twice for a Grammy Award following her prolific career as a recording artist.

Ms Connelly found out about the trust from the late Chairman, Richard Lister, and promised to help with a fundraising concert.

Locally based charity The Nelson Trust, established in 1985, aims to combat severe and multiple disadvantages by providing treatment and support.

This includes helping people with drug and alcohol problems, those at risk of offending among others.

In addition to treatment, clients have access to an adult education centre; practical, creative and life skills workshops; and voluntary work.

The performance starts at 6.15pm on Sunday, August, 31 in Pittville Pump rooms, Cheltenham and if you wish to reserve your seat for a suggested donation of £30 should be given.
