June 18, 1915 – Probably there was not a single parish in Mid-Gloucestershire which remained untouched by the casualties of war.
Every week that passes added to the lengthening of the Roll of Honour and the toll of death went on. It was impossible to approximately estimate the death toll of Mid-Gloucestershire men but by this time it was believed to exceed three figures while several hundred were wounded more or less severely.
