POLICE have issued two CCTV images of a man they are eager to speak to in connection with an attempted robbery in Gloucester in June.

The incident happened at 9.15am on Monday, June 16, when a 65-year-old woman was walking along Bell Lane towards the indoor market.

She was approached by a man who attempted to wrestle her handbag from her shoulder. A struggle ensued before a member of the public stepped in and threw coffee over the man. Finally the robber fled empty handed.

The offender is described as white, with tanned skin, in his 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a black hooded top and black jogging bottoms with red stripes down both legs.

After forensic and other inquiries officers are now turning to the public for help identifying the man in the images.
