The Weaving Shed at Gigg Mill, Nailsworth, will be open from 10am to noon on Saturday, August 16. Visitors can try their hands at weaving a pattern as well as seeing demonstrations of the flying shuttle and a power loom. £3 for adults.

In addition, the Mill Centre at Dunkirk Mill will be open 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17, with demonstrations of Victorian textile machinery, some driven by a large water wheel.

See how the finish on a fine Stroud scarlet cloth was produced. £3 for adults.

New to the area? The Nailsworth Society has regular weekly meetings on a Monday.

The arts, crafts and music group meets on the first Monday in the month, the local history group meets on the second Monday, the gardening group meets on the third Monday and local studies is on the fourth Monday. Summer dancing dates - come along and join Jim and Nicky in some fun and lively dance classes during the summer on a Thursday evening at the Comrades Club. Every Wednesday Luke from Black8Bikes hosts a pre-planned ‘magical mystery tour’ for all ages and abilities. The ride goes off road as much as possible and is usually from 12 to 20 miles. Men’s Shed community workshop takes place every Tuesday at 1.30pm in the Subscription Rooms (formerly the Boys Club).

Nailsworth Silver Band hold their training evening on Mondays in the Band Room in Brewery Lane. Beginners meet at 5.30pm, the training band meet at 6pm and there is a full rehearsal at 7.15pm.

Walking for Health ticks all the boxes; physical, mental and social. The walks take place at 2pm each Tuesday departing from Nailsworth library. Everyone is welcome.
