TEENAGERS have been working together to organise a one day pop-up skate jam festival in Stonehouse after the successful week of arts last month.

Stonehouse Community Partnership teamed up with Global Arts Gloucester to run last month’s six day festival; the start of a five-year flagship project.

Since then, Global Arts has been working with youngsters on a mini pop-up festival to be held later this month.

A group of six volunteers who are all starting at Cirencester College next month, spent Thursday sketching graffiti designs to promote the event.

The teenagers then spray painted their designs on to the youth pod next to the youth centre in Oldends Lane, Stonehouse, by the new skate park, where the event will be held.

It is hoped that the one-day festival will bring teenagers together for one last time before they head back to school and college in September.

Anthony Merle, 15, said: “We are planning to have DJs playing alongside skate displays, plus food, drink and arts and crafts, at the skate jam.

“Preparing this festival is part of giving something back to the community and we are doing it in an exciting way so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”

The date for the festival is yet to be confirmed but is it earmarked for the last week of August.
