SNJ sports editor Ashley Loveridge looked ice cool when freezing water was dumped over his head.

The ice bucket challenge, which has become social media's latest craze is designed to raise money and awareness for the neurodegenerative illness ALS - better known as Lou Gehrig's disease .

When people are given the challenge, they have 24 hours to dump freezing water over their heads - and must record it.

Ashley took up the challenge after being nominated by Forest Green sports therapist Tim Grigg.

Rovers’ defender Aarran Racine was master of ceremonies as Ashley was put through the pain barrier.

With the ordeal over, Ashley has now boldly selected Stroud MP Neil Carmichael, political rival David Drew, Forest Green midfielder Sam Wedgbury and chairman Dale Vince.

So far, the likes of Justin Timberlake Lady Gaga and Mark Zuckerberg have all taken on the ice bucket challenge.

Now former President George Bush has got involved, as has Tom Cruise, Cheryl Cole, David Beckham, José Mourinho, Gwyneth Paltrow and Simon Cowell.
