SNJ reader Simon Stroud has taken on the Ice Bucket Challenge after being inspired by the SNJ's campaign to Help Tessa Beat Cancer.

The paper launched the appeal this week to help save the life of Tessa Elam, 72 who has travelled to Mexico to receive treatment for a rare form of liver cancer.

Seven weeks ago Tessa was diagnosed with secondary metastatic liver cancer, a rare and extremely aggressive form of liver cancer and as a result probably has less than a year to live.

Tessa has been sent to San Diego Clinic in Mexico to begin an eight week course of treatment which is not available in the UK.

The total cost of the treatment is £60,000 - so far the family have been able to raise £22,000

Simon Stroud took the freezing water dousing, donating funds for Tessa’s private cancer treatment in Mexico.

If you would like to donate to help Tessa on her road to recovery go to www.gofundme.com/help-Tessa-beat-cancer. Donations can also be dropped off at the SNJ office.

Cheques should be made payable to Clare Playne.
