NAILSWORTH’s county councillor Dorcas Binns has been handed the portfolio for older people in a mini cabinet reshuffle at Shire Hall.
Cllr Binns, who also represents Minchinhampton at Stroud District Council, vacated her position as the member responsible for public health in order to take on the new job.
She is swapping posts with Cllr Andrew Gravells, who represents the Abbey ward and will now be in charge of public health in the county.
In a statement released to the press, Gloucestershire County Council said the two councillors were being switched due to the nature of up and coming projects which will be announced later this year.
The two member reshuffle, which took place on Monday, September 1, means Cllr Binns’ responsibilities will now include “reablement’, residential and nursing, dementia, living well and domiciliary.”
In his new role Cllr Gravells will take charge of “libraries, VSC grants, asset based community development, customer voice, travellers, parish and town councils, advice and information.”
Cllr Gravells said: “It is a new and exciting challenge, which I’m very much looking forward to.”
